Cypress Creek Golfers Club in Smithfield Seeks Superintendent

City and State:   600 Cypress Creek Parkway Smithfield, VA 23430                                                             

Educational Requirements: 2 year turf certificate, Associates or Bachelors Degree in Turfgrass Management

Course Information: Cypress Creek Golf Course was established in 2000. Under new ownership in May of 2019.  The club boasts exemplary facilities including 18 holes of championship golf, Restaurant/Tavern Faculties, Private Maintenance Shop. Cypress Creek is a Curtis Strange designed course with semi private oriented club with an acute focus on providing the best possible experience day in and day out.  The Golf Course consists of bentgrass greens, Bermuda grass fairways and rough as well as some cool season rough and native areas. A full irrigation system is in place.  In Oct. the club acquired 250K of new Toro equipment  consisting of 2 Greens movers with extra reels, Greens Roller, Rough Mower, 648 Airator, Sand Spreader, Sand Pro & Blower.  Previous equipment is still in use and we have a great maintenance facility with private entrance and easy access to the course. Plus a New fleet of 75 Yamaha Carts!  Golf course has some homes on it and another 200 coming in the community to finish it out so we are growing.

Candidate Qualifications:

Cypress Creek Golfers Club is seeking a confident leader to maintain the path of current success. The ideal candidate should be exceptionally versed in growing cool season and warm season turf in the Mid-Atlantic.           

·        Able to lead and motivate a veteran crew

·        Strong communication skills

·        Golfer who can see the Course from a player’s standpoint

·        Exercises an unrelenting diligence for improvement and an eye for detail

·        Strong computer skills & financial awareness

This position requires the Superintendent to be well versed not just in Integrated Pest Management, soil health, irrigation technology and proper cultural practices but in equipment operation and management and of course, personnel management.
