If you are energetic, dependable/ responsible, have excellent written/oral communication skills, self-motivated and have knowledge of turfgrass maintenance, this job could be yours.  Prior sales experience is a plus.

We are looking for an outside Field Specialist in the Mid to Upstate Virginia area.  As a Field Specialist, you will have face to face interaction with customers in your territory selling JRM’s full line of products including our manufactured products as well as fertility, chemicals, rollers, etc.

We are looking for a candidate who is focused and determined, doesn’t mind travel and can have overnight stays.  The right candidate will develop relationships with their customers and know their specific needs.

Job Description

Responsible for leading sales initiatives within assigned territory (golf courses, professional lawn care, sports fields, colleges/universities & municipalities).  You will build a strong distributor/customer relationship with existing accounts in your assigned territory and use your industry contacts to generate sales, locate and sell to new customers. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn the entire portfolio of JRM, Inc. including our subsidiary product lines
  • Effectively introduce products to end users and speak well in public settings and customer presentations
  • Plan and organize daily work schedule and routing, calling on existing customers as well as further develop the sales territory by seeking out new customers and growing the territory
  • Submit orders in a timely fashion in accordance with department standards
  • Resolve customer issues by investigating problems and providing technical knowledge and problem solving expertise with regards to customer issues
  • Be able to write fertility and chemical programs in order to aid customer in being successful
  • Analyze the current market and offer recommendations to get ahead of the competition
  • Regularly report goals and achievements to Sales Manager
  • Achieve and exceed sales goals as planned by your Sales Manager
  • Keep customers abreast of sales promotions, trade show events and product training
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending sales meetings, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, attending trade shows and anything else deemed necessary by Sales Manager

Turf Management Degree with 3-5 years of related experience in the turf industry

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary:  Base Salary Plus Commissions

Benefits:  Eligible to elect company sponsored benefits offered to full-time employees.  Per plan documents, employee eligibility is the first day following 90 consecutive days of employment.  JRM, Inc. sponsored benefits include employee elected participation in medical, dental, vision, voluntary life/AD&D, and/or short term disability plans.  These elections are on an employee contributory basis with the company supplementing a percentage of the employee’s health coverage only.  Long term disability and a $25,000 life/AD&D plan are covered by JRM, Inc.
